Official | Paul Mitchell to leave Monaco

Paul Mitchell has confirmed that he will leave his role as AS Monaco’s sporting director. The Englishman arrived in 2020 and has announced his departure in an interview with Nice-Matin.

L’Équipe revealed in February that Mitchell was set to leave the club after the summer window. Whilst the English sporting director will indeed leave Les Monégasques, no timescale has been given for his departure. He told Nice-Matin that he would leave once a successor has been found and once he had ensured “a smooth transition” by accompanying that successor through their first steps.

As revealed by sources contacted by Get French Football NewsMitchell has held talks with Liverpool, whilst L’Équipe have confirmed that he is coveted by English clubs.

Mitchell said that the decision was a “difficult” one to make, and revealed that the club had attempted to retain his services beyond his contract, which was due to expire in 2024. In the search for his successor, Mitchell says that he has “some names in mind.”
