Stade Rennais have officially announced the signing of Turkey U21 international Bertuğ Yildirim (21). The 21-year-old centre-forward has signed a five-year deal with the Bretons.
Rennes and Hatayspor reportedly agreed a €5m transfer fee for the signing of Yildirim. The striker ended the past campaign on loan at Antalyaspor as Hatayspor had to halt their activities due to the devastating earthquake that hit the south of Turkey in February.

Rennes were in the market for a tall and physical centre-forward to complement the profiles already present within Bruno Genesio’s squad. Yildirim may also compete with struggling France U21 international striker Arnaud Kalimuendo. “The idea was to recruit a player with different characteristics from what we already have. His aerial ability is exciting, and it’s something that we have lacked sometimes“, said Rennes Sporting Director Florian Maurice.
Yildirim will wear the #99 jersey with Stade Rennais. The Ligue 1 club are expected to complete the signing of BSC Young Boys midfielder Fabian Rieder in the next few days. Should centre-back Arthur Theate leave Roazhon Park, Rennes have targeted Davinson Sánchez and Clément Lenglet to replace the Belgium international.
