Official | Thiago Scuro to replace Paul Mitchell as Monaco’s Sporting Director

AS Monaco have confirmed that Thiago Scuro will replace Paul Mitchell as the Sporting Director of the Principality club.

Scuro’s current club, Red Bull Bragantino, confirmed his departure earlier on Wednesday. In a press release from the Principality club, it was stated that the Brazilian will assume his duties from 1st July. Scuro had been in the role as the Sporting Director Bragantino since 2018.

Once in situ, Scuro will have a busy summer ahead of him. Mitchell, who announced his departure earlier this year, is expected to accompany Scuro at least for a part of the summer as the English sporting director looks to facilitate a smooth transition. However, there will be lots of work to do, notably finding a replacement for Philippe Clement. The Belgian manager was sacked after a poor run of form at the end of the season saw Les Monégasques miss out on all forms of European football for next season. In a clear trend towards emulating the Red Bull model, Jesse Marsch and Red Bull Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle are reportedly on Monaco’s shortlist to replace Clement.
