RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Paul Pogba (30) and N’Golo Kanté (32) will both miss out on a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
Pogba is returning to fitness after a long battle with injury. He was on the bench for Juventus’ Serie A opener against Udinese and then came off the bench with 24 minutes to go against Bologna. However, he hasn’t convinced Deschamps to call him up to the national team.
Les Bleus face the Republic of Ireland on 7th September before a friendly match against Germany on 12th September. Kanté, who recently left Chelsea to sign for Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad, is also set to miss out, according to Hawkins. Since his arrival in the Gulf State, the former Leicester City midfielder has played four top-flight games, assisting one goal. Deschamps has previously stated his move to Saudi Arabia won’t affect his status in the national team squad, however, he won’t feature for Les Bleus during this international break. Deschamps will announce his squad later this afternoon.
