PSG in advanced talks to sign Gabri Veiga

PSG are in advanced talks with Celta Vigo over the signing of highly-rated Spanish midfielder Gabri Veiga (21), according to a report from Foot Mercato. The 21-year-old was one of the most sought-after prospect in European football with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester City all linked to his signing. However, the French publication indicate that PSG are now firmly in the lead to land Veiga, with a medical already booked.

Of course, as Celta Vigo Sporting director, PSG Sporting Advisor Luís Campos has undoubtedly proved instrumental in the race to sign Veiga. Foot Mercato report that Les Parisiens will pay Celta less than Veiga’s reported €40m release clause. The 21-year-old has impressed with Celta last season, scoring 11 goals and four assists in 36 La Liga games. Soon-to-be PSG coach Luis Enrique knows all about Veiga, as the latter received preliminary call-ups to the Spanish national team when the former Barcelona coach was the manager.

Veiga would be PSG’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window following the expected arrivals of Milan Škriniar (28), Marco Asensio (27), Manuel Ugarte (22) and Lucas Hernandez (27). The Ligue 1 champions are also in the market for a centre-forward and have set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt sensation Randal Kolo Muani.
