According to RMC Sport, Marco Asensio (27) could become the first signing for the newly revamped Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), as the club aims to shift its focus towards efficiency rather than star power. The 27-year-old, whose contract with Real Madrid is nearing its end, reportedly ticks several boxes on PSG’s desired qualities list.
The likes of sporting advisor Luís Campos at PSG see Asensio as a team player, a game-changer who creates imbalance, and a versatile and creative midfielder. His ability to generate movement and opportunities on the pitch could greatly benefit PSG’s star forward, Kylian Mbappé.
Asensio’s availability as a free agent makes him an attractive proposition for PSG. The player himself is reportedly intrigued by the Parisian project but has yet to commit. While Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, have expressed interest, PSG’s Luís Campos is leading negotiations with Asensio’s agent, Jorge Mendes. Mendes had previously hinted at significant movements happening swiftly, indicating the potential for progress in Asensio’s talks with PSG.
