With Christophe Galtier’s time at Paris Saint-Germain ostensibly coming to an early conclusion this summer, the Ligue 1 leaders’ search for a potential successor has now begun. Roma manager José Mourinho had emerged as an option in the past few weeks, and Foot Mercato now indicate that talks have taken place between Les Parisiens and the Roma coach.
Earlier this month, RMC Sport had been reporting that the former Chelsea manager was at the top of Sporting Advisor Luís Campos’ shortlist, with the director seeing his compatriot as the ideal candidate due to his success on the continental stage, as well as his assertive management style. The club’s ownership, though, were said to be somewhat more reticent about the prospect of Mourinho arriving, with fears that his approach could clash with the dressing room.
In the wake of Lionel Messi’s two-week suspension, though, PSG appear to be increasingly clamping down on breaches in conduct – and Mourinho’s ability to command a dressing room of high-profile players could play in his favour.
