The Athletic are reporting that Paris Saint-Germain offered Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford (25) £400,000 per week to join the club last summer.
PSG have made no secret of their admiration for Rashford, who they were hoping to sign on a pre-contract agreement for next season. L’Équipe first broke the news of discussions of a move for Rashford to the Parc des Princes last January, whilst the club’s president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi confirmed the interest during the World Cup in Qatar in December.
“He is another player that is really amazing and to have Rashford for free, every club will be running after him. We’re not hiding it, we have spoken before. The moment was not [a] good [one] for both sides. Maybe [this] summer? Why not. If he’s a free agent, we can talk to him directly. We’re not going to talk to him now. Let him focus on the World Cup and then after in January hopefully, we’ll talk to him,” said Al-Khelaïfi in an interview with Sky Sports News.
The Athletic have now confirmed that talks took place between Rashford’s representatives and Les Parisiens last summer. Sources contacted by The Athletic have revealed that PSG even offered the England international £400,000 per week to join. Rashford stayed put at Old Trafford, and he won’t be leaving the Premier League side on a free in the summer, having triggered an extension. PSG’s interest, however, persists, although Rashford’s happiness at Manchester United, reflected in his form, may make it difficult for the Ligue 1 champions to make any move.
