PSG is still undecided regarding an eventual contract renewal for centre-back Sergio Ramos (36), according to a report from RMC Sport. The four-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid (2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018) signed a two-year deal with Les Parisiens following a free transfer from La Casa Blanca. His first season in the French capital had been underwhelming, with Ramos being hampered by countless injuries and knocks that prevented him from even playing a single minute in the Champions League. However, the former Sevilla youth product looks to have found some of his form back.
Despite some erratic performances, Ramos has played nineteen out of a possible 22 Ligue 1 games with PSG and featured in every Champions League group stage outing with Les Parisiens this season. The Spanish international is reportedly a leading and vocal presence in the dressing room and gets along well with both Kylian Mbappe (24) and Neymar (31). His relationship with former Barcelona rival Lionel Messi (35) is now said to be fluid. More importantly, PSG head coach Christophe Galtier values Ramos and the latter does not hesitate to give some advice to the younger members of the squad that look up to him.
Ramos is reportedly willing to put pen to paper and extend his stay in France. However, PSG have not made his decision yet about the Spaniard’s future and are yet to offer a renewal to him. RMC add that the PSG board want guarantees on Ramos’ performances. The outlet adds that the likelihood is that Ramos will not be extended, but nothing is set in stone yet. With PSG set to face Marseille and Bayern Munich twice in this season-defining month for Les Parisiens, Ramos has no choice but to prove himself essential to the Christophe Galtier-led side. If Ramos were to leave PSG next summer, the Ligue 1 leaders have already a replacement lined up with Inter centre-back Milan Škriniar (27).
