PSG unsuccessfully proposed Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma in swap deal for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva

According to Foot Mercatoduring negotiations to sign Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva (28), Paris Saint-Germain offered Marco Verratti (30) and Gianluigi Donnarumma (24) in return, but to no avail.

PSG’s interest in Silva is no secret. The Portuguese international is under contract with Manchester City until 2025, but the player is being linked with a departure this summer. Questioned by TF1 in the wake of Manchester City’s Champions League triumph over Inter Milan, Silva was coy about his future.

“Honestly, I don’t know. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks and months. But right now we need to celebrate because we’ve achieved something special,” said the Manchester City midfielder.

Foot Mercato are reporting that Silva would be keen to join Les Parisiens, and through Luís Campos, the Ligue 1 champions have begun to test the water. In order to lower the fee being touted for Silva, PSG have offered players in return. Verratti has been proposed, as has Donnarumma. Both are regular first-team players, but Manchester City have rejected the trades. The Champions League winner’s refusal has been described as “categoric.”

PSG are clearly keen to bring Silva to the Parc des Princes, but given how highly the player is regarded at the Etihad Stadium, particularly by Pep Guardiola, more work will have to be done to convince Manchester City to sell.
