PSG unwilling to make immediate decision on Christophe Galtier’s future

After Rennes dealt PSG their seventh defeat of 2023 on Sunday at the Parc des Princes, Christophe Galtier’s future at the club is being increasingly called into question – the manager’s position already being scrutinised in the wake of the Champions League last 16 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Nevertheless, L’Équipe report tonight that the prevailing feeling among stakeholders at the club is that a decision should not be made before the end of the season. The idea would be to avoid giving in to panic and making rash decisions – although that hasn’t stopped them from considering the prospect of changing managers. Sacking Galtier could also be seen as a potential admission of failure with regard to the project that was built last summer around Kylian Mbappé and sporting advisor Luís Campos.

It’s not all bad for PSG, though – the club currently sit seven points clear at the top of the table and are on their way to a record-breaking eleventh Ligue 1 title, all the while dealing with an unprecedented injury crisis and the effects of two poorly-managed transfer windows.
