The French national team is back in action. Tonight, the 2022 World Cup runners-up will look to begin erasing the agonising memory of the penalty shoot-out loss to Argentina last December in Qatar, on football’s biggest stage. The Didier Deschamps-led side will kick on their qualifying campaign for the Euro 2024 by hosting The Netherlands at the Stade de France on Friday March 24. Les Bleus will then travel to Dublin to face Ireland next Monday.
The European Championship is the final trophy that still eludes Deschamps as coach of the France’s national team. They were inches away from winning the Euro 2016 at home, but Portugal prevailed in injury time thanks to a goal from striker Eder. Nevertheless, France went on to win the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 Nations League. Since the start of his trophy-laden tenure in 2012 as manager of the national team, Deschamps has called up 117 different players to don the legendary blue jersey. Are you able to name them all ?
