While Rennes have avoided losing Belgian defender Arthur Theate to RB Leipzig, the Bretons now face the prospect of dealing with interest with another club in the Red Bull network, who are interested in another one of their defenders.
According to L’Équipe this afternoon, RB Salzburg have made an enquiry over a potential deal for 21-year-old centre-back Christopher Wooh. The Cameroon international is under contract for another three seasons with Rennes, having joined last summer from Lens.
Wooh, who has scored in his sole appearance so far this season in a 2-2 draw against Le Havre, is not the first-choice option for Bruno Génésio. He has made 17 appearances in all competitions since arriving for €10m from the Sang et Or, where he had spent a single season after moving from Nancy. Should he join the Austrian outfit, the defender would be switching a Europa League campaign this season in favour of Champions League football, with Salzburg already qualified for the group stage.
