According to L’Équipe, RC Lens have embarked on a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the exterior renovation of its iconic Bollaert-Delelis stadium. The initiative is part of the club’s effort to expand fan ownership, with the ultimate goal of allowing supporters to hold a small stake in the stadium until 2052. The club is offering commemorative plaques to fans, which will be displayed on the stadium’s gates. The plaques will be personalised with the donor’s name, a message, and a unique date, and will be numbered for identification purposes.
RC Lens aims to create a festive area for fans, including food and drink stands and entertainment, before games. The crowdfunding campaign, named “Aux noms de Bollaert”, has been launched following consultations with the club’s supporters. The initiative offers two options: a €90 plaque lasting ten years, and a €190.60 plaque that will last a lifetime. The money raised will go towards the development of the stadium and enhance the fan experience.
This crowdfunding campaign is part of a growing trend in football clubs seeking to engage fans to finance stadium renovation and development projects. The plaques will be installed during the summer of 2023 and will be visible during the 2023-2024 season.
