Rennes’ Bruno Genesio lauds “exemplary” Tottenham loanee Joe Rodon

Rennes manager Bruno Genesio has heaped praise on Welsh centre-back and Tottenham loanee Joe Rodon (25). The 35-time Wales international has not played a single minute with Les Rouge et Noir since a 3-1 away humbling at Toulouse on February 12, being an unused substitute since then. With Rennes gunning for a fifth-place finish that would allow them to qualify for the Europa Conference League, there is little chance to see Génésio give Rodon some playing time out of sympathy before the end of his season-long loan. However, the former Lyon manager has lauded the Welshman’s attitude.

Following Karl Toko Ekambi’s brace against Troyes last week, Genesio lauded the mentality of his loanee players. “Joe Rodon shows an exemplary mindset, although he does not play“, Genesio said in his pre-game press conference that Ouest-France attended. “I want to mention it because it is not easy, even less for Joe because Karl gets more minutes.” Like Djed Spence (22), who has already left Rennes following a season-ending injury, Rodon will return to Tottenham upon the expiry of his loan. Rennes will travel to Ligue 2-bound Ajaccio on Sunday for Ligue 1 matchday 36.
