Saint-Étienne striker Charles Abi set to move to Switzerland

According to L’Équipe, striker Charles Abi (22) is leaving Saint-Étienne for Switzerland with only a year and a half remaining on his contract.

The 22-year-old French-Togolese striker, who is under contract until 2024, has not appeared in Ligue 2 with Saint-Étienne this season. He is set to undergo a medical examination with Stade Lausanne Ouchy (Switzerland), who are currently third in the second division, on Thursday. If all goes well, Abi will then sign with the club.

The Frenchman has been at Saint-Étienne since 2019, and has made a total of 51 senior appearances for Les Verts, scoring five goals and registering two assists for ASSE. He also made 20 appearances on loan in Ligue 2 with EA Guingamp, scoring three goals and registering one assist at the Breton side. Abi has also played for France’s U19 squad, scoring three goals in nine appearances for Les Bleus as well as playing at U18 and U16 level.
