Saudi Arabia confident of luring Karim Benzema away from Real Madrid

Romain Molina is reporting that Saudi Arabia are confident on luring Karim Benzema (35) away from Real Madrid this summer.

Benzema is reaching the end of his contract this summer, and will therefore soon become a free agent. The Independent first reported Al Hilal’s interest in the Frenchman, who announced his retirement from international football following the World Cup.

The British media reports that the Olympique Lyonnais academy product is “seriously considering” a move to the Saudi top flight in a deal that would reportedly be worth €100m per year. Real Madrid are also hopeful of extending Benzema’s contract for a further year.

However, as Molina reports, there is also a lot of confidence in Saudi Arabia that Benzema can be lured away from the Bernabeu. The Real Madrid forward isn’t the only big name linked to joining the Saudi top flight. Foot Mercato reported yesterday that Lionel Messi’s (35) entourage had accepted a record-breaking contract offer, also from Al Hilal, who have the opportunity of lining up with Messi and Benzema in their forward line next season.

Sports Zone have reported that whilst no decision has yet been taken, a departure is currently the most likely outcome for Benzema, despite Real Madrid’s desire to retain the player. Benzema would sign a two-year deal worth €200m, should he make the move to Al Hilal.
