Thierry Henry lauds Marseille’s Alexis Sánchez as a “role model”

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has lauded Chilean forward Alexis Sánchez (34) on Amazon Prime Video Sport. The 34-year-old Marseille player scored a game-winning brace against Clermont Saturday night to put Les Phocéens firmly into second place with only a 5-point deficit on league leaders PSG. Since his arrival as a free agent in Southern France from Inter, Sánchez has breathed new life into Marseille with his pacy runs, his commitment to pressing and his remarkable stats sheet with thirteen goals scored in 28 games.

Henry, a pundit for Prime Video, hailed Sánchez’s dedication to return to his best after some difficult seasons with Manchester United and Inter. “At Arsenal, he made me dream. He left but I always liked his desire, the way he presses. We all know he’s quality but at Inter I said to myself ‘He’s started to decline.’ But honestly, now at Marseille…“, said Henry. According to the former France international, Sánchez flourishes thanks to Croatian manager Igor Tudor’s well-drilled team at Marseille, probably the best Ligue 1 side to watch right now. But there’s something else that sets the Chilean apart from the rest. “I went to see him the day after a game“, recalls Henry. “Man was on a treadmill to do sprints. He’s a role model, on and off the pitch too. When you see such a player, who’s won it all, behave like this, you feel compelled to follow his exemple.
