Vanderson return halted by illness, Ruben Aguilar set to make Monaco return

In a press conference attended by Get French Football News, AS Monaco manager Philippe Clement revealed that Vanderson (21) was on the brink of making his return, but may miss out on Sunday’s match against ESTAC Troyes through illness.

The Brazilian full-back suffered what looked to be an innocuous injury against AJ Auxerre in early February, but he was ultimately ruled out for a month, missing some key fixtures, notably both matches against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, as well as Ligue 1 matches against Paris Saint-Germain and OGC Nice.

Clement said that Vanderson was “on the brink” of returning, but missed Friday’s training session, attended by Get French Football News, through illness. However, in more positive news for Les Monégasques, Ruben Aguilar (29) has made his return to collective training and is likely to feature over the weekend.

Elsewhere, Guillermo Maripán is still working his way back to full fitness and trained individually on Friday. Maghnes Akliouche, who also missed the defeat against Nice through injury also trained normally.
