According to L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi Wolverhampton Wanderers have accepted the Manchester City’s latest offer for Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes (25). Tanzi also reports that the Premier League side have already started looking for a replacement midfielder. With the player already wanting to join the club, the move edges closer to being completed.
The deal looked to be dead in the water, with English media reporting that City were ready to walk away from the table, and Wolves expecting to keep the Portuguese international. Wolves turned down a €55m bid for the player last week, as Nunes himself refused to train with Gary O’Neil’s squad in an effort to push for the move to the Premier League champions.
Nunes made 34 appearances for Wolves last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist after joining the club from Sporting Lisbon for a fee estimated at around €35m.
