Wolves reach agreement with Strasbourg to sign Jean-Ricner Bellegarde

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached an agreement with RC Strasbourg Alsace to sign Jean-Ricner Bellegarde (25), according to Foot Mercato

Despite the publication reporting that the player had agreed to join the Premier League side earlier on deadline day, the move was thrown into doubt when Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace reported that Les Alsaciens had turned down Wolves’ bid. The local publication reported that the bid, worth €8m, was turned down by Strasbourg with president Marc Keller keen to retain the player.

However, the transfer now looks set to be completed before the closure of the transfer window tonight. According to Foot Mercato, the two clubs have now come to an agreement. The France youth international now looks set to join Wolves.

Bellegarde has started the 2023/24 Ligue 1 season in scintillating form, scoring twice and registering two assists in just three games. Wolves are in the market for a midfielder after parting ways with Matheus Nunes, who joined Premier League champions Manchester City.
