Cesc Fàbregas believes Chelsea should trust Axel Disasi and Benoît Badiashile

Cesc Fàbregas has spoken highly of his former AS Monaco teammates Axel Disasi (25) and Benoît Badiashile (22) while talking with Planet Premier League

The retired midfielder was discussing Chelsea FC’s current problems as the club finds itself in 11th position in the league and struggling to find a consistent level of performance that has become expected of the side.

Despite these issues, Fàbregas believes that the amount of quality within the side should prove to be the answer to their issues. And that the club can rely on two of the players that he once shared the field with during his stay in the Principality. The World Cup winner stated “I played with Disasi and Badiashile. Badiashile is one of the best ball-playing centre-backs and best young players in Europe.”

The issue for Fàbregas was not the quality on offer but the fact that the team has struggled to place that talent in its most effective positions. “They do need to fit their best players in their best positions and I don’t think they’ve done that yet.”

These will be encouraging words for two players who have struggled since leaving Monaco in 2023. Badiashile’s season has been impacted heavily by recurrent injuries (suffering another recent setback on Wednesday), while Disasi has played frequently for the side he joined in the summer, but has perhaps not yet justified a significant €45 million transfer fee.
