Chelsea and Tottenham target Jean-Clair Todibo could become most expensive sale in OGC Nice’s history

Jean-Clair Todibo (24) isn’t expected to depart OGC Nice this January, however, amidst interest from some of the Premier League’s elite, it could be a different story in the summer. According to a report from Téléfootthe France international could become the club’s record sale come the end of the season.

As per a report from Nice-Matin, Nice have slapped a €60m price tag on Todibo this January, in order to ward off potential suitors, amidst notable interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Napoli, who according to Téléfoot, have all spoken to the player’s entourage. Manchester United and Liverpool have also been strongly linked with a move for the Frenchman.

Speaking last week, Le Gym’s sporting director Florent Ghisolfi reaffirmed his stance that neither Todibo nor Khéphren Thuram (22) were available for transfers this month. “As we’ve said since the offset, we are working on stability, and stability is keeping your best players. JC and Thuram are definitely that, as players and as leaders as they are vice-captains. We absolutely want to keep them. I hope they will quickly come back from suspension and injury and quickly bring their freshness, leadership and enthusiasm,” said Ghisolfi in response to a question from Get French Football News‘ Luke Entwistle.

However, a summer transfer cannot be ruled out, and according to L’Équipe, it is even likely that Todibo will make a departure from the Allianz Riviera. Should he do so, he will likely become Nice’s record sale, even if the current €60m price tag may come down with Les Aiglons more open to doing business. Nice’s current record sale came when they sold Jean Michaël Seri to Fulham in the summer of 2018 for €30m.
