Florent Ghisolfi denies disunity in OGC Nice dressing room

“I don’t understand some attitudes in the team […] “I don’t know if it is collective; I’d say it’s about individuals. Everyone needs to look themselves in the eyes and ask themselves if they are showing desire. Today, for me, some of them showed that they didn’t have that desire,” said Marcin Bulka after OGC Nice’s latest defeat, against FC Nantes on Sunday.

With just one win in their last eight in the Ligue 1, the cracks look like they are beginning to show at Nice. For much of the season, Le Gym have been on the podium in the league and bar Paris Saint-Germain, they were arguably the favourites to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

However, the dramatic dip in form not only threatens their place in that prestigious competition but also their place in any form of European competition next season. Within this context, the situation in the Nice dressing room seems fractious, as evidenced by Bulka’s comments after the 2-1 defeat to Les Canaris at the Allianz Riviera.

However, speaking to Nice-MatinNice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has dismissed notions of disunity, whilst also acknowledging the need for the team to bounce back. “We take responsibility for the negative results, but there is no fracture between the players, or with the staff. The unity is there,” said the sporting director, who had recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
