Frankfurt to activate the option to buy Hugo Ekitike from PSG

According to Florian Plettenberg, Eintracht Frankfurt have decided to activate the option to buy Hugo Ekitike (21) from Paris Saint-Germain for €16 million, with the Frenchman keen to extend his stay at the club.

The forward joined the Bundesliga side on loan from PSG during the winter transfer window after he had been frozen out of the Parisiens’s squad. Ekitike made only one appearance this season for the current Ligue 1 leaders after he had fallen foul of a club hierarchy that had been keen to see him gone before the start of the season.

At Frankfurt, a club that courted him during the summer and into the new year, his bosses are reportedly pleased with his attitude and appreciate his character, with the loanee becoming a popular figure in the dressing room.

Despite being goalless since the move, the club believes in his potential. They have factored in the difficult season he had before the loan as being a contributory factor to this, and believe that all the young striker needs is time and patience before he will begin showing his true level.
