Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS could surrender control of Nice so Manchester United can participate in Europe

According to The Telegraph, INEOS could be set to surrender ‘day-to-day’ control of Nice so that there will be no conflict with Manchester United and the Premier League club will be able to play in European competition.

UEFA competition rules stipulate multi-ownership clubs participating in European competitions. As a result, Jim Ratcliffe is set to meet with the European football governing body towards the end of the season to attempt to reach a resolution which would allow both Manchester United and Nice to participate in European competitions.

In order to allow both the French and English clubs to play in UEFA continental competitions, INEOS will have to restructure their ownership of one of their clubs. Following their partial acquisition of Manchester United, it is expected that INEOS will seek to change their ownership status in charge of the Ligue 1 club which will see them relinquish daily control.
