Mahdi Camara shows Brest are the real deal on a record-breaking night

One of the biggest surprises in European football this season has been the unlikely rise of Brest from mid-table mediocrity to the possibility of fitting with the European elites. Before their match against Strasbourg on Saturday, Brest sat in second place in Ligue 1. 

Following a stellar and record-breaking performance against the Racing club, Brest have shown they are more than just pretenders in the race for European qualification With an emphatic 3-0 victory, Brest have equalled their record unbeaten run in Ligue 1 – a record which has stood since 1990. Brest currently sit on 43 points in Ligue 1 after 23 matches played. This is a record-breaking points tally for any Breton club at this stage of the season. 

Mahdi Camara shines 

Mahdi Camara (25) was the hero for Brest as they cemented their place as a serious contender for European qualification with 11 matches to play. The 25-year-old scored a superb hat trick to secure all three points for Les Pirates.
