Marquinhos doubtful for PSG’s crucial Champions League tie

According to L’ÉquipeParis Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos (29) could be a doubt to face Real Sociedad next week after missing first-team training on Wednesday.

The Brazilian centre-back has been struck by another muscular injury after missing games earlier this season with a hamstring problem. This time, Marquinhos is struggling with a calf injury, which he sustained during PSG’s 2-0 victory over FC Nantes earlier this month. He was taken off in the 70th minute of that game and then went on to miss last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Stade Rennais.

L’Équipe report that Marquinhos was once again absent from first-team training on Wednesday, just two days before a clash against AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II. He isn’t just a doubt for the match against the Principality club, but also the return leg of Les Parisiens’ UEFA Champions League encounter against Real Sociedad. PSG hold a 2-0 lead going into the second leg, but with under a week until the second leg in Spain, they may have to secure their qualification without their club captain.
