Newcastle and Dortmund to submit offers for Rennes’ Desiré Doué

According to L’Équipe, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are set to submit offers to sign Rennes attacking midfielder Desiré Doué (18) before the end of the January transfer window. Both clubs have shown an interest in the Frenchman in the past and are expected to make that interest active before the window slams shut. The Magpies were reportedly heavily interested in signing the Rennes winger in the summer.

Newcastle and Dortmund have both sought information in recent days to understand the potential grounds of signing the 18-year-old before submitting an offer later in the window, according to L’Équipe. Doué has featured on 22 occasions for Rennes in all competitions this season, but largely as a substitute.

Is a transfer on the cards?

Any potential transfer which would see Doué leave Roazhon Park would be down to the transfer fee any interested club is willing to offer, L’Équipe report. Doué has struggled to stake his claim as a first-team starter at Rennes and has even been playing with their reserves this season. In search of regular playing time, the 18-year-old may look to seek pastures new.
