PSG sound out move for Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté

Whilst Ibrahima Konaté (25) is happy at Liverpool FC, even despite the departure of Jürgen Klopp, the Frenchman has just two years remaining on his deal. He is seen as a potential opportunity for many clubs around Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report from L’Équipe

Talks over a contract extension for Konaté have been ongoing for several months. Liverpool have remained optimistic of reaching a positive outcome. Konaté himself wanted to wait until the end of the Premier League campaign before delving deeper into the talks and a meeting between the player and the club will soon take place, as per L’Équipe.

Those talks will be followed closely by many clubs across Europe. PSG, who are in the market for a central defender, have not made a direct approach for the former RB Leipzig defender, however, intermediaries have made it known that PSG would be interested in acquiring his services. Les Parisiens particularly like the France international’s versatility.

Questioned by Canal Plus last year, Konaté said the following on a potential move to the Parc des Princes: “Could I imagine myself wearing the red and blue of PSG?  If I said no, I’d be lying, but if you’re asking, is it one of my objectives? Not at all.” Any move for Konaté will be a long shot for PSG with the player happy on Merseyside.
