Saudi Arabian clubs interested in Lyon’s Anthony Lopes

Anthony Lopes (33) may have a contract with Olympique Lyonnais until 2025 but it has been made clear that they are willing to allow their goalkeeper to leave this summer on a free transfer.

Foot Mercato reports that Lyon have given the green light for Lopes to discuss his future with other clubs in the upcoming transfer window as they look for a fresh start between the posts. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are thought to be monitoring the situation and would be willing to make a move for Lopes, although it remains to be seen where the goalkeeper would like to take his next step.

Anthony Lopes set to leave his boyhood club

It’ll ultimately be a strange situation for both the player and the club, as Lopes has been at Lyon ever since he was a child. The goalkeeper developed in their famed academy system and made the step up to the professional team in 2012. However, the signing of Lucas Perri (26) in January ultimately sealed the fate of Lopes, as a succession plan looks to be finally taking shape.
