Two Barcelona fans arrested after Nazi salutes and monkey chants against PSG

A video posted on social media showed two Barcelona fans making Nazi salutes and directing monkey chants towards the Paris Saint-Germain fans during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League first leg at the Parc des Princes. Local authorities have now revealed that two arrests have been made.

The video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), showed two fans in the Barcelona away section making racist gestures towards the PSG fans. On the morning after the game, the Paris police prefecture stated that two arrests had since been made. The pair have been arrested for vindication of war crimes and public insults of a racist nature, the prefecture revealed on X.

The acts were a stain on what was an entertaining night of football at the Parc des Princes. A quick-fire double from Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha reversed Barcelona’s advantage after Raphinha’s opener. However, the former Leeds forward hit back, netting his second on the night and drawing Barcelona level before a winner from Andreas Christensen. PSG therefore have a deficit to make up when they visit Catalunya next week.
