Zinedine Zidane close to becoming next Bayern Munich manager

According to Mundo Deportivo, Zinedine Zidane is one step away from becoming the next Bayern Munich manager from the start of the next season, although an agreement has not yet been signed between the former Real Madrid manager and the German club.

The Frenchman has become the club’s number one target after Xabi Alonso announced that he would be staying for another season at Bayer Leverkusen, while Julian Nagelsmann has recently extended his contract to remain as the German national head coach until 2026.

Zidane has not managed since he left Madrid at the end of the 2020/21 season and it was widely suspected that he was waiting for Didier Deschamps to step down from his role with Les Bleus, something that has become increasingly unlikely.

Zinedine Zidane coaxed out of sabbatical by Bayern?

Despite a long absence from working in the game, his achievement of winning three Champions League trophies as a manager has retained his status as an elite coach and led to multiple European clubs having tried to coax him out of his sabbatical. Something that Bayern look like they might have achieved.
